Re: Buying a Car

It is rather simple. Search for a car from a reputable auction site, e.g. Papera, Japanesevehicles.com, etc. Get as much information on the car specifications as possible:........... the year and month of registration/manufacture, mechanical condition, features (power steering, windows, 4WD/2WD, Stereo, fullly loaded) etc.

Then inquire about the CIF (cost, insurance and freight) to the port of Mombasa. Note that you neeed to bargain on the price because you may get a good discount.

Also inquire about the next shipping date since you need to pay in time for the inspection and export process to begin. You shall normally pay by WIRE to the company's account. You shall then scan and send via e-mail of fax the copy of the Bank Slip to the company, and they need to confirm receipt of the money within 48 hours.

The exporter should immediately send you the car documents ASAP with freight details, and expected Date of Arrival of the ship at the port of Mombasa.

Liase with a clearing agent to initiate the clearinr process that includes payments as follows:

Import Declaration Form
Delivery Note
Duty (please choose a car with attractive duty. Cars newer than 7 years attract very high duty).

All the best. You may inbox me for further finer details.
