Re: Molly L-an Epitome and Fountain of Tribalist

Christine, can you listen to  yourself!! are you justifying tribalism practised by other public officials coz kibaki has done it? pleaseee, no wonder i called you a true tribalist humming the same tune forever. we should as kenyans especially young generation move away from tribalism by rejecting it regardless who propagates it, including you christine.you cannot defend a thief whose defense is that his parents, teacher, prefect, pastor was a thief.

Molly you seriously have a 2 cent argument just as you have stated. Kibaki is the PRESIDENT OF KENYA and he must set pace and example here by appointing people from different regions and tribes to reflect the diversity that is Kenya. He is the President of the whole republic called Kenya and if he were serious in fighting tribalism-the ministers that you mention would NOT practice tribalism but once the head of state sets an example of beng a TRIBALIST what would you expect from the Ministers? THE BUCK STOPS WITH THE PRESIDENT.

Harry, et,al,

please don't miss the point. just for clarification and for the benefit of those attacking me, the point is this, tribalism is a cancer that afflict kenyans even younger generation lie you and christine. this is so sad indeed. i was highlighting christine and kipkemoi narrow view of only seeing tribalism in kibaki and his tribe. just to jogg your small mind Harry, in 2003, we ushered in a new leadership under narc with promising leaders such as kibaki, wamalwa, raila, ngilu etc. kibaki appointed ministers and gave them a free hand to run their dockets, what observers call hand-off leadership. what did we witness when the ministers went out to exercise their mandate in their 5 year term? the picked key tribal men and women to head institutions under them. my former mp in environment ministry picked nema director, tourism minister picked a tribal head at utalii, health minister picked a tribal head a knh, transport minister picked a tribal head at kpa etc. the same has continued in the coalition government and you have examples.so, for Elda and the rest of you, my 'pluck them all' who practise tribalism was aimed at those who feign selective amnesia and seeing kibaki as the only tribalists.our generation must resist being drawn in that direction.

my '2' cents
Molly

Molly, it is unfortunate that you have resorted to simplifying the scourge of tribalism in this country, by trying to smoke-screen its obvious existence and presence through cheap and unwarranted remarks directed at Christine Baraza. By attacking Christine Baraza, you have further exposed yourself as part of the problem. You haven't solved a thing!!

Well, maybe you simply do not like Christine. Maybe its your nature to use such cheap tactics, when confronted with real issues. I guess you are a daughter of Mumbi, please correct me if i am wrong. Christine Baraza has every right to bring to the fore what is now obvious to Kenyans.

Let me mention that the GEMA community is generally perceived by other Communities as a greedy lot. This is true in the public service and parastatals. I am talking of perception here. You are allowed to argue for or against it. Perception is very important in life Molly. This perception became stronger during the first term of Kibaki, and was cemented after Kibaki rigged the elections.

So lets just say that Christine has written a lot about Tribalism. Tribalism in Kenya has become associated with Kikuyuism. This is not by coincidence. The GEMA leadership has continuously behaved in a manner that has made Kenyans suspicious of them. But is Christine the only one who has noticed this? No. Just last weekend, an article was written that condemned the appointment of a son of MUMBI as the CID. It was written by one Kipkoech Tanui Published on 02/09/2010. It was Titled "Kibakis appointment a threat to National Unity". Did Christine write it?

If you are intelligent, you will understand that Christine is addressing an issue of leadership. In a country like Kenya, where the minority are still struggling to come out of poverty and lack or resources, we need a leadership that is seen to be sensitive to their feelings. And by minority i don't just mean tribes, but also cultures, backgrounds, education, disabled etc. Because of Moi and Kibaki, because the two were blind to the minority, we have had to write a constitution that explicitly includes values that would deter a rogue president from misbehaving. We have had to make it mandatory for a president to do this. Did Christine sit in the CoE and assist them to include this clause?

Chapter 13 of the Constitution talks about the Public Service. Part 1 talks about Values and Principles of public service. Read Section 232 (1) h).

"Section 232 (1) The Values and principles of public service include - h) representation of Kenya's diverse communities."

Maryann Wanjiru and Daniel Mukura, you seem to be backing Molly. Its no surprise that you too are sons and daughters of Mumbi. Thank God for the Constitution.

Thank you Christine for your posts. They have done more good than harm.
