Kuria,
Me thinks these opinion polls are at best unscientific and unreliable and at worst cooked-up for propaganda purposes. The data collectors if there are any would be interviewing folks in bars and other social places and those walevis would be telling them what they think the interviewers want to hear. They'll sit down pubs like in Pig & Whistle, talk to a few walevis and waiters and fill out the questionnaire; then go back to Nairobi and report Meru is 90% yes.
The more accurate are the ones compiled by NSIS but only consumed by the president and a few select guys, or like the one conducted by the Kofi Annan team. The Kofi team gave the yes group 49% a few weeks ago.
Going by the panic exhibited by the consumers of NSIS reports, and the confidence of others who have access to the same like kina Moi and Ruto, I'm inclined to believe the number is around that figure if not worse. Activities in the yes team point to the same; Moved/reorganized secretariat severally, turf wars, message wars, name it. Listen to Salim lone and Mukhisa Kituyi, two of them brought in coz there was a problem with the message and its delivery. How can there be a problem with the message if the numbers are in their 60s and 70s?
And things can only get worse for the Yes team as campaign time dwindles. Me thinks it was a fatal mistake to antagonize the church; their outreach simply cannot be matched by political rallies as Kibaki and group are trying to do. How many rallies can kibaki hold in the remaining two weeks? Plus how does he debunk what the local pastor has been pointing out to his congregation as being offensive, specifically? By calling the pastor and bishops liars and land grabbers? Kenyans are polite; they'll come to those rallies but will do their thing when time comes.
Look how awfully off 'our' predictions were with Matuga and Bomachoge! Didn't we have wine bottles chilled and Heineken on the ready, sure that Zipapa will be buried come election day? Do not understatement the power of grassroot mobilization; Wachana na hii kelele mingi by kina Sungu, Kuria and a few other fellas on these Internet platforms. This thing is in deep trouble; this 300M campaign splash is too little too late. It's akin to giving a fellow a chance to circle you 3 times in a marathon, and hope to win by sprinting the last 100Metres!
As for central kenya, specifically Kikuyu country, don't expect politicians to hold NO rallies like the rest of the country. In any case, it can't be Moi or Ruto. The vote shall be delivered by the church. Central politicians will appear with kibaki to show respect, but that's it; they'll go home to their wives and beautiful girlfriends. If they speak, they'll do so in coded language like Michuki did. The man said he has come to the YES side coz of the long standing friendship with Kibaki, and as sincere friend he had to come to his friends aid when in trouble!! Is Kibaki in TROUBLE? What kind of trouble? How come Michuki didn't say he's now in YES coz he thinks this document is good? Coded language; I'm here but don't count my presence for anything...
only my 2 cents

The NO side is going to buried and reduced to nothing. With only 20% of the voters on their side and 18%-20% undecided, I believe we (YES) can get atleast 50% of the undecided to garner at least 70%. I am giving the YES side 70%-80% of the votes. As Wakamba says, Aki ya Ngai we will win with a landslide. Hii kitu tumenyakua.
