Re: FW: YOUNG MOTHERS - PLEASE READ

@NKT

Stories we read in this forum could to be imaginary unless stated so. On this thread, kindly read input from Rose; she has real insight on this.

Juma,
You need to get serious, you think a woman can actually make up a story about the death of their children? Anyway, reading your story you sound just like one of them!
You need deliverance! Someone is hurting and grieving the loss of their innocent baby and the best you can say is 'I hope the story is true?!'
If I may ask, what do you think, as your wisdom advices, could be the motive/motivation behind this story?? NKT!

This is extremely sad and unfortunate that an innocent baby should die
in such a manner; I hope the story is true.

It is rare that a baby who is fairly well, left behind by the mother,
should die within 30 minutes unless it was chocked, or had a fit. The
treatment at Getrude hospital of amoxil and cetamol is acceptable and
should have cured the throat infection; Amoxicillin is still very much
in use. Some clinicians prefer to use stronger and newer anti-biotics
but this is not a rule but rather an exception as over-exposure to and
over-use of some of these drugs may result in drug resistance of these
reserve drugs. Zinnat, given at Mater is one of the stronger and more
costly; except, it may have been given late and that the previous
treatment may have altered the symptoms.

As a general rule: 1). Five to six months is a very trickiest time in
infancy; it is the time when maternal immunity wears off and the
baby's immature immunity takes over. This water-shed period also
coincides with dentition and some of the symptoms of diarrhea and
fever are usually wrongly attributed to the later.2). Symptoms and
signs of disease we experience are immune reaction of the body to the
disease. In low immunity, the reaction is absent and the disease
features are usually very less or absent entirely. Fever, poor
feeding, diarrhea, somnolence, lethargy and convulsions are ominous
signs that pregnant women are told to watch in babies/children during
ante-natal care. Parents must also divulge any other medications,
conventional or otherwise given to a child as these may modify disease
presentation.

Two things worth noting here: mothers should never leave their sick
babies with house helps, and one should never change their doctor
before consulting them a second time. In this case the first doctor
may have noticed no change or deterioration of the baby's condition
and given treatment for the second best guess- Integrated Management
of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI).

It very possible that if the mother missed the signs that the baby was
not well, left it behind with the house help that the doctors could
have missed it too.
