Lets bring sobriety here.
Should we go a head and the table the management of Ramogi Institute
of Technology, Kinyanjui Institute, Kabete Technical, Mombasa Poly,
etc here.
Why do we entertain all this cheap talk here?
Let us not confuse academic qualifications with tribes, what is the
common factor here?
For your information, I attended a university in Central Kenya. Most
of the heads of departments were from one community: Agikuyu. As
expected most of our lecturers came from the same community. At the
beginning I thought these guys were going to crucify me academically
because I come from another tribe Prof. Makau Mutua calls Hutu.
May I share with you that what I ended up getting was the best of
service as regards education; I had never imagined I could get. In
addition I enjoyed the rich Gikuyu culture and on a few weekends
niliburudika na Muratina. On Sundays the worship songs I enjoyed were
the Gikuyu worship songs which filled my heart with spiritual
nourishment. Surely, what else does a student need ? and lastly I
almost Ponyokad with a chick from the Slopes of Mount Kenya..
You cannot ban all people in Central from speaking Kikuyu because you
have started offering degree programs in Kimathi Institute of
Technology, or Mt. Kenya University. Neither can you deny them
employment is these institutions or management because of their
ethnicity.
Now another team leader of an Agenda 4 commission is discouraging kids
from learning cultural practices. That is quite misplaced.

J. Kirwok
