Most of Kenyan music  is about aping the west. Look at our brothers/sisters from TZ or UG, they sing in one language Kiganda or Kiwashili or English -period. In Kenya one song have vernacular/Kiswahili/English – mpaka you wonder who do they try to please- may be students/pupils.  You will find that most gospel music do better as they usually in just one language and try to pass a message. Not the genge crap.

Without looking at a video one would know a Kenyan singing as they try to sound American or more English than the Engs.

The reason Kenyan now prefer traditional music like Mugithi, Orutu etc

Kenyan artistes have grown musically, but i'd rather have in my playlist the music from the 90's, kina 1-2 moja, jimmi Gathu, mercy myra etc. Nowadays i think they are trying too hard to ape the western kind of music apart from Genge(should say it's the original kenyan beat-my opinion though) but the one i could attend his shows anytime of day is Kiddum, he's a very talented dude and his band does an exceptional back up!

Amani is great. She's very original and energetic. She has great moves and can dance harder than her dance crew who are many years younger. They are also very well choreographed. Ofcourse the Ogopa beat is something to write home about. She doesnt have a regular place she performs at but she goes round the country, mostly Nakuru and Mombasa but you can sometimes catch her at the Carnivore Nairobi. You shall not be disappointed.
Amani ako juu, tu sana.

I find the music and gait of this musician something to take home, somehow. But I have never seen her live performance. Anybody knows where she performs? Cud be something for a Friday, coz life does not start and end with Raila and Kibaki alone.

Anybody knows where this mama performs?
