Re: Fw: siaya county

Unfortunately, none of you think any of us in this forum can offer the leadership so much needed in Siaya. You continue mentioning Jackline Oduol, Sammy Weya, and so many other old names with tested and  failed leadership traits!
I see myself as a key changer of that whole story because, young or old, rich or poor, big or small, known or unknown....name it .....i will present my candidature, campaign and i know that with superb efforts and your close support, i will make it.
This is not just for the sake of this debate, we are only gauging the possibilities because the capability and capacity is not lacking. There will be so many options and we are determined that one of them is out for us. Or if not, then why not work with them so closely this round and beat them from within in the next round. You all understand politics and political games and i do know you get me very well. Jo Ugenya that is the position on the ground.

Ayuaya,

I totally agree with you that we should not personalize the debate. But when contributing on leadership, individuals and their characters always come in.

How about trying Sammy Weya for Siaya County Governor?

Angaluki,

I am sorry but you ate talking about a different Jackline Oduol from the one I met at a nyamachoma at a Kenyan gathering in Guelph in July 2009. She had no use for any Kenyan there except the KCO President.

Anyway, you say she's your friend so that explains why she's always treated you with a common touch. I am sorry she's not my friend and I've never experienced even human courtesy from her. She only treated me and other Kenyans with contempt, the only time we met.

I am glad the Alego/Usonga electorate rejected her in 2007. They will reject her again in 2012. I'll be there to tell them about my encounter with Jackline in Canada.

I think we are diluting the good debate we had by concentrating on personalities. When we reduce ourselves to campaign managers then we are losing the track.
The question here is not about certain individuals being fit or unfit to run for office positions in Siaya County but the democratic process with which we want the elections to be conducted so that the best ( in this case the most popular ) candidate wins.Let us stop dragging in people`s names as it is in bad taste.Let us not be rigid with the names of proposed office bearers- let us not lock anybody from the race because they are not publicly known or inclined to Raila Amolo.

Ndu Maurice,

You're definitely talking about a different Jacqueline Oduol. The Jackie Oduol that I know is the one who, when she's invited to Canada or New York, actually squeezes in her tight schedule time to detour and visit with old friends like me in other parts of the US. When I visit her in her office at NSSF Building, I don't need an appointment and Jackie makes me tea with her own hands. How more humble and down to earth can one be? I have never seen anything in Jackie that would qualify for arrogance (which I believe you meant by "proud," because there, really, is nothing wrong with being proud). What I know is that Jackie is unusually couragious, especially for an African woman. This is something that we should loud rather than criminalize. As far as I'm concerned, if politics were fair, Jackie should be the MP for Alego Usonga right now. I've told Jackie I'll be registering as a voter in Alego Usonga. I want her to run for Alego Usonga senator in 2012 and I'll be her campaign manager. Then at the end of Raila's presidential term, I want her to vie for the presidency and I'll be her campaign manager. I don't want Jackie's brilliance, leadership qualities, character, integrity, her whole potential... to be wasted at the county level. I want all Kenyans to benefit from the inimitable qualities of this unique lady.

I would not want Jackline Oduol in any public positiom at Siaya County or even in Kenya. The woman is extremely proud. She came to Canada last year and would no talk to anyone except the President of our organization of Kenyans here. We do not need such people in positions of leadership. They are a discredit to what we are trying to achieve because they lack the connection to the common man/woman.
Jackline Oduol is out. She should go back to the university to teach. I am sorry.

Thanks Ayuaya, this debate is very difficult and we need to move the next level and have some framework for the participation of the residents of Siaya county in deciding on propers leaderdhip if we are to move to the next level.
The idea of handpicking the leader will not work\
Thanks

Chris, Who are these boardroom delegates that decided to handpick leaders for the people of Siaya County with no option for fair and democratic elections?
I think this process is premature at this stage and it may impact negatively on our democratic space. When the time comes, let anybody interested in any position show their
leadership prowess for the electorate to decide.Floating names at this juncture will prove futile.
