Re: Fw: siaya county

Ndu Ayuaya Masira,

You misssed my point. Choosing to register in Alego Usonga as a voter
and managing Jackie's campaign are my ways of emphasizing my confidence
in her candidacy. As for the functions, we've already created them in
the new constitution, and I am confident that Jackie, with her
development record on the ground, will serve Siaya County best as its
senator. I get the impression that my friend Maurice is in touch with
the County, but he doesn't seem to know Jackie's development record on
the ground. There is no single time I've been to Kenya and I haven't
been told that Jackie is either in Siaya to attend some community
development meeting or is planing to do so.

Wuo Naya,We have to makes things right if we are to get any meaningful
leadership for our county. We cannot, year in year out, elect people
just because they are clinging on Amolo`s coat. The only thing they can
tell us in a baraza is that I was with Amolo in such and such a
place. There development track record is zero if not moving towards the
negative.Let them come out on their own and tell us what their plan is
and we may choose to support them or campaign for their departure. We
have lagged behind in development for so long because of their lack of
foresight.

Wuod Ugenya,

Many here are not different from these old folks, who tells them if
free and fair elections were held it can only be Orengo, etc etc who
can be suitable for these positions?

This is what ails us, we begin by fitting personalities to functions
instead of creating functions and then let the best, through a
democratic process be meritted to do the job.

I think we are diluting the good debate we had by concentrating on
personalities. When we reduce ourselves to campaign managers then we are
losing the track. The question here is not about certain individuals
being fit or unfit to run for office positions in Siaya County but the
democratic process with which we want the elections to be conducted so
that the best ( in this case the most popular ) candidate wins.Let us
stop dragging in people`s names as it is in bad taste.Let us not be
rigid with the names of proposed office bearers- let us not lock
anybody from the race because they are not publicly known or inclined
to Raila Amolo.

Ndu Maurice,

You're definitely talking about a different Jacqueline Oduol. The
Jackie Oduol that I know is the one who, when she's invited to Canada
or New York, actually squeezes in her tight schedule time to detour and
visit with old friends like me in other parts of the US. When I visit
her in her office at NSSF Building, I don't need an appointment and
Jackie makes me tea with her own hands. How more humble and down to
earth can one be? I have never seen anything in Jackie that would
qualify for arrogance (which I believe you meant by "proud," because
there, really, is nothing wrong with being proud). What I know is that
Jackie is unusually couragious, especially for an African woman. This
is something that we should loud rather than criminalize. As far as I'm
concerned, if politics were fair, Jackie should be the MP for Alego
Usonga right now. I've told Jackie I'll be registering as a voter in
Alego Usonga. I want her to run for Alego Usonga senator in 2012 and
I'll be her campaign manager. Then at the end of Raila's presidential
term, I want her to vie for the presidency and I'll be her campaign
manager. I don't want Jackie's brilliance, leadership qualities,
character, integrity, her whole potential... to be wasted at the county
level. I want all Kenyans to benefit from the inimitable qualities of
this unique lady.

I would not want Jackline Oduol in any public positiom at Siaya
County or even in Kenya. The woman is extremely proud. She came to
Canada last year and would no talk to anyone except the President of
our organization of Kenyans here. We do not need such people in
positions of leadership. They are a discredit to what we are trying to
achieve because they lack the connection to the common man/woman.
Jackline Oduol is out. She should go back to the university to teach. I
am sorry.

Courage

Thanks Ayuaya, this debate is very difficult and we need to move the
next level and have some framework for the participation of the
residents of Siaya county in deciding on propers leaderdhip if we are
to move to the next level.
The idea of handpicking the leader will not work\
Thanks

Chris, Who are these boardroom delegates that decided to handpick
leaders for the people of Siaya County with no option for fair and
democratic elections?
I think this process is premature at this stage and it may impact
negatively on our democratic space. When the time comes, let anybody
interested in any position show their
leadership prowess for the electorate to decide.Floating names at this
juncture will prove futile.
