RE: Change of surname after Marriage in Kenya?

In my opinion, I deduce it’s simply an act of submission. For one, when a man leaves his father’s home as the Bible says, he gets a wife, and him and the wife become ONE.

This means she has become detached from her family in a way, she goes and joins another ‘Boma’.

This could be literally translated that, she doesn’t belong to her parents. And as it proverbially is, the man to whom she’s married … is the head of the house. This woman will automatically drop her family name so for it to be clarified that she’s in her husband’s house, she is in her new home, she is beginning her very own family, she proudly acquires and flaunts the husband’s name.

Dear Mlalahoi Members,

Can anyone in this forum explain how a woman should legally change her last name after marriage to assume husbands surname?  This is a case of "after the weddings"

Your advise will be appreciated.

Rgds, Lawrenzia.
