Re: Fw: siaya county

David Burns in one of his many insightful and powerful works opines :-
"Assert your rights to make a few mistakes. If people can't accept your imperfections, that's their fault".
Josiaya kababa - I beg to differ.
Every Jasiaya has the inalienable right and is fully entitled to his or her passionate opinion - political or otherwise.
I submit and believe that the days of direct nominations and fulani tosha are long gone! No more drafting of lists for the people. The faster we recognise this reality and indeed put it into practice , the better for the development-starved but potentially-rich Siaya County and indeed our beloved country Kenya. Let the true democratic culture be nurtured so that for once it blossoms and is felt by Josiaya duto.
You all know what has been happening with our political parties which miserably failed to internalise democracy. Any divergent opinion however, well intended and objective, was perceived to go against a particular the community grain and ruling clique. This brought total agony to Josiaya! Those who embraced this trajectory of thinking were quickly consigned to political oblivion. Quite painfully, many well-meaning and brilliant Josiaya coiled into their shells. This past culture of intolerance, domination and control must end!Kenyans have said so! And the emergent shocking results in the recent by-elections ought to sharpen us!
Perhaps people like Gideon could have been in Parliament and made their contribution long time ago.
We must not squander the fresh impetus that the new constitution has now provided. The enshrined/expanded democratic space gives all the full potential to exploit it in free and fair campaigns and elections. This premature leadership jostling is unwarranted. What we surely need right now is more intensive people-centred civic education not conditioning ill-prepared Josiaya to vote for particular individuals come 2012. Josiaya are known to be very intelligent Jokenya. I should be alerted if they have lost that feather in their cap.
It is imperative that we embrace the new spirit that is inherent in the solemn letter of the New Constitution.
Let the Siaya people decide WHEN the right time COMES - its not too far I guess.
NO LISTS PLEASE, LET THOSE WITH THE LEADERSHIP PASSION AND POTENTIAL GO TO THE PEOPLE. WHAT I FULLY CONCUR WITH IS THAT WE NEED TO IDENTIFY PROPERLY CAPACITATED LEADERS WITH A CLEAR VISION FOR SIAYA COUNTY.
This is the noble route that will lead us to a truly democratic vibrant, economically prosperous, accountable, responsible and desired Siaya County - a dream that has eluded us for so long.
I rest my case.
Ochien'g Adika.
Ja siaya
