Re: [NVK-Mageuzi] WHY DIDN'T RAILA ORDER THE ARREST OF BASHIR

Jonathan,

ODM can not leave government because ODM won the last elections. Why leave the government to be run by a bunch of riggers and thieves?

Jonathan, think before you write this kind onf nonsense. Why should they leave the government to people who stole the elections? Are you out of your mind? This debate was already concluded and it's people like you that keep bringing it back.

Courage,
Maurice

Its really sickening to see ODM leaders complaining about the Govt they are serving. Why then
shld they continue sitting in this govt.It doesn't just add up.They desperately want to make us believe that they are better.
I didn't want to go back to this ,but check this, in 2005 the same leaders complained of the Govt using public
resources to campaign.2010 the referendum campaigns are a Govt project and using public resources is ok.
Why the double standards.Nyani haoni gundule. They will obviously not fool all the people all the time.

Sagongonyi,
Of all the people wanting Raila to resign because he is saying he was not awa5re that bashir was invited>hahahahah not you who did not even want Ruto to resign because he differed with govt on the proposed now passed constitution. When the debate was brought here you said Ruto is exercising his democratic rights now Raila has no such rights to say what he knows>>what hypocrisy my friend.

I don't support Raila blindly and when the matter of his sister and brother in law being appointed to embassies abroad was debated here I said its immoral and not right but Sagongonyi is a typical; kale who only see matters wrong with Raila and not anybody from that side.

My friend and brother we dont entertain that here. Why cant you tell Kibaki to resign as you purport what the government did in inviting Bashir was wrong? Why would you only want to see Raila leave government for which I understand Kales elected him to overwhelmingly as Ruto once put it.

Make it more mature man

Eric, If Wetangula says it was a government decision to invite him and one side of the same gvt says it was not aware....it does not make sense to me. Someone is fooling the public in this whole episode. Who is the gvt? does our gvt exist without the PM? Was Raila really kept in the dark or he is playing to the public gallery? If he was kept in the dark, what is the point of sticking with people who do not trust you? In serious coalition gvts, Raila would have left along time ago. If at all he is honest that he was not informed, I guess his continued stay is for his self interest.... not for the good of the country. The decision to invite Bashir was a serious breach of the tenets of the second republic. It compromises the values that we promised to adhere to in the new constitution. It is NOT therefore ONLY a question of whether it was RIGHT or WRONG to invite Bashir....It is also about the INTEGRITY of our LEADERS to make HARD decisions when they are required to do so. Why should Raila serve in the same gvt that is doing this to him? the position of the PM is sweet and it is anchoring him in a good position as he prepares for 2012.

Stephen,
Why dont you stick with the matter at hand?Either share your opinion on whether inviting bashir was right or if it was wrong who did it and not asking Raila to resign when Raila has shown no interest in Bashir matter and has only said he was not aware of it. What is your opinion beore asking Hon Raila to resign?
Remember this is how Kibaki operates and am personally not amused as below:
1. The Ethiopian farmer his team paraded as general Mathenge---dont forget what transpired thereafter(the dude has since died for your info)
2. The Artur brothers even to the point where they were designated assistant police commissioners only for them to be deported after Kibaki and his team's foolishness was exposed badly
3. Now on El-Bashir,wait and see the embarrassment he will undergo with his team and it's Wetangula who will be on the receiving end

The comments made are all thoughtful but have one basic flaw- the constant assumption that Raila was indeed (and is always!) unaware of what happens in government.
If indeed he is ineffectual, in the dark and unaware of important matters, then we must ask ourselves why he is still hanging in there! And, as Mr Obonyo rightly says, if he is truly for Kenya, he and his troops (and I mean troops!) should (peacefully!) resign and precipitate a constitutional coup, ostensibly, for the good of the country.
BUT! I can bet my bottom dollar that will not happen because the original assumption on the saintliness of Mr Odinga is fatally flawed.

We need new, fresh leaders, not Stone Age populist tribal chiefs like him and his ilk

Many thanks Ochieng and Philo for being so candid and to the point. You have made my day! How I wish we could all follow your examples in discussions in this and other fora.

Yes we must surely put on different lenses if we are to navigate this country to greater heights.

Have a truly new constitutional spirit

Well said Philo. It is amazing, seriously annoying and utterly disturbing to note the emergent intrigues and side-shows ostensibly to impugn the emerging constitutional spirit.
Impunity is unacceptable in all forms whether local, regional or international but there is need for clarity, objectivity and honesty in grappling with the intricate web of impunity and corruption. Ordinarily, the networks of impunity divert peoples attention whenever they are about to do something nasty. Dedan kimathi, Pio gama Pinto, Tom Mboya, Adungosi, JM Kariuki, Bishop Alexander Muge and many other Freedom Fighters fell victims of nasty schemes. Jesus must therefore not be crucified for a second time. This time round, life must prevail over death! It is therefore time to do the right thing by affirming that right is might in as much as good overwhelms evil and that old ways of malice, treachery, blackmail, injustice, dishonesty and sheer insensitivity to the suffering of others will not suffice again.

Indeed it is time to reclaim with honor and happiness what has been taken away, looted and even destroyed in shame and sorrow! Kenyans have been treated to comic opera tirades and manipulations of tragic proportions for far too long. Freedom Fighters have been humiliated, shamed and ostracized. Others have either been killed, maimed or destroyed. We continue to witness similar schemes aimed at destroying Freedom Fighters and Kenyans of goodwill. We must all in unison resist such attempts and machinations. As a Founding Father of the 2nd Republic, I assert with firmness, the need to pay homage in strict fidelity to both the letter and spirit of the new constitution.

Let us therefore surge a head with the proper implementation of the constitution and do so we must with focus, goodwill and purpose. God bless & best wishes always,

Obonyo,

At some stage we will have to either believe and act on the wisdom of the truth setting us free... or stop quoting Scripture when we are in trouble.

We have not faced the truth in Kenya. Not about the elections, those who died, those who were raped, the disappeared, the wives we have or do not have, our power sharing and now our commitment to the rule of law.

Dear All
If only Raila had some powers in this government, if Raila is indeed the prime minister of the republic of Kenya, could he not have ordered/demanded an immediate arrest of Bashir? And if he actually orderd the police commisioner to do that and nothing happened could that be considered as insurbodination. If Raila was really the prime minister of the republic of Kenya could he have known that a head of state is comming to the country where he shares equal powers with the president? How can Moses Watengula know something while Raila is kept in the dark? Do we have two parrallel governements in our country?

Ladies and gentlmen, we are being set up for chaos. We do not have a government. We simply have a clan led by the twelve desciples of the devil himself. Our elected leaders have no idea what goes on. Instaed of acting they are crying back to us and yet we have no defense. That is why many of us are still IDPS. This Bashir thing is more seriouse that just the hague. It digs deep to the core of our government and it is an indicator that we are a failed state run by three or four people. If the prime minister has no idea what is going on in his own government then who should know?

How bad does it have to get before one says enough is enough? Who is really in charge of Kenya? It appears this government can easily be taken over by hooligans under this confusion. With the immense support Raila has, it is time he be respected or else he should quit the coalition. The coalition is a hoax. There is no cooperation. How long must Raila continue crying to the public instaed of saying enough is enough?

The constitution has been passed. This should be the straw that broke the camels back. It is time for Raila to mobilize his group when he is still popular and call for elections so that is ruled by an elected president. Kibaki has something up his sleeves and he need to be stopped before it is too late. We do not want chaos, we need peace and cooperation and I think it is time for people to go back to the ballot box.
