Vs: Re: lets change the name of Harambee stars ( No Please).

Jagem,

You have saved my day. You have said it almost all. Changing the name will not not help: Why can`t they give Harambee stars just the simple name like this: the stars which never lived to their spectators dreams or the stars which annoyed their supporters. But name is not enough; Africans have to look beyond names or beyond the ball they kick in the field. Football is now a profession just like medicine, engineering, teaching etc. Most of african footballers want to be like a jack of all trades but a master of non. Again the mentality in Africa that the coach must come from haeven like Europe, Brazil, America etc should just end. During the last world cup (south Africa) I was very impressed by Algerian team, despite the fact that they did not do very well, but they actually rose my spirit about Africa. Algerian team was the only African team with a coach from African continent. The rest of African teams had made  a dill with aliens or devils outside the continent and every body saw the results. Algeria lost with dignity unlike some who lost without self esteme. Infact I do not need to say much, but Harambee stars has to change its face, define its role and goals as a national team, tribalism should also be kicked out of harambee stars fore good. Look at our Kenyan olympic team (athletics), it has brought medals after medals just with local coachers. The boys or girls are already made material just from schools and the coach has just to modify and install tactics and discipline. Guys;  let us not pretend,  have you seen  a  donkey winning a horse race without plastic surgery?.

It is quite obvious that the Football  administrators in Kenya do not have an idea of Football administration. Hawajui whether they are coming or going.  Those who have an Idea, which lacks even with Ex-internationals, about the growth of Football will put emphasis on Youth Programmes.

Just check the World over; starting with African countries. The countries that have done well in International Football in Africa are Nigeria, Ghana, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria "Indomitable Lions(Cameroon), Zambia etc. These Countries have always had a strong Youth program. Players like Finidi George, Stephen Keshi, Sunday Olise, Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Emmanuel Amunike, Oman Biyik, Andre Kana Biyik, Antwa (Antonine) Bell, Late Mark Vivian Mfoe, Jeremy Njitap, Eto'o, the entire present Ghanian Team with their Asemoa Gyan, the Great Kalusha Bwalya and those Zambians who perished in Gabon, Hossam Hassan, Abu Dhaab, all the Algerians who were at the last world Cup, the former Morrocan players like Raber Majer, Lakdar Billoumi, Badou Zaki and many many others, are by Products of Youth Programs in their respective countries.

In 1972, a German named Krautzun, coached Kenya to African Cup of Nations. After the tournament he recommended a Youth programe to be started. Football administrators as usual dragged their feet and the program failed to kick off intill around 1974/75. By 1976 there were These Youth programmes all over the country. They were named Olympic Youths. We had Nairobi Olympic Youth, Mombasa Olympic Youth, Nakuru Olympic Youth, Kakamega Olympic Youth, Nyeri Olympic Youth and Kisii Olympic Youth. Kisunu the bedrock of Footballers never had one because of Siasa Mingi.

The star players who emerged from these Olympic Youths were, sharp Young men like Sammy Taabu and his brother Dick Anyanga, Polished Jamal Sketty, David Manogo, Musa Bakari, ever Green and probably one of the Best defenders Kenya ever produced Osoro Masanta. One of the Dogo Khan Brothers (Remember Dogo Khan supported Shabana for many years after the Collapse of these Programs). The likes of Nahashon "Lule" Oluoch and one David Mbugua"Mbuguss" of Nyeri Olympic. All these players had a short or long stint through the Olympic Youth programmes. It helped them to learn at an early stage what to do with the Ball when they are in the Field. Many present Kenyan Players seem not to understand what to do with the ball once they get possesion of it.

Had the Sports administrators had a Clear Vision and maintained these Youth Programs Kenya would be very far now. Unfortunately many of the administrators do not understand what is supposed to be done. You can see this by the way they Keep on changing Coaches who time and again, come with new Tactics and Patterns of play. This literarily confuses the young mind of players that have not had a serious exposure in Football.

Secondary schools, can be a good source for tapping talent, but I think that after tapping that talent, these Young stars should be nursed and moulded through a Youth Program. Footbal has become so technical and in addition to physical fitness and speed, a player must have a lot of intelligence to be able to beat the Opponent and score.

If you look at some of the most Famous Players in the World today, you will realize that all of them come from either Club Youth Programes or National Youth Programs. Ronaldinho, Robinho, Kaka, Roberto Carlos, Dida, Wyne Rooney, Puyol, Thiery Henry, Former Star Dennis Barkamp, Diego Fulan, Former Star Carlos Valderamma, Freddy Rincon, the entire German 2010 World Cup team, have all been moulded through Strong Youth Programmes.

If Kenya has to make progress  in Football and which it needs to, then those "Sleeping Bats" at Football Administration, has to be Kicked out and people with Visions be recruited to Start Youth Programms throughout the Country. The Government can help in setting funds for Youth Development in every County. This is the only way to go. With a lot of input, then in the next ten years we can project to Qualify for the World Cup. But at the rate at which those arrogant confused fleecers at Kenya Football are behaving, it will take maybe another 40 years to qualify for the world Cup.

Have a Youthful Day

Nyongesa,

The name Nyangau,Cobra,Tembo,Likondi,Arsenal,Man U/C,Mfurilla Wonderous,Nkana Red Devils,Shabana,Bata Bullets OR ANY DREADFUL NAME wont score goals.

I therefore cling on Likondis back in overthrowing the footbal administration in favour of former footballers i.e. JJ Masiga,Mohammed Abbas,Dr.Obwaka,Motego or the likes who not only have the foot ball acumen, but good administrative skills.

HOW ABOU GOING TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND SHOP TALENT AS WELL DO SPORTS ACADEMIES FOR TRAINING!

My thoughts,how about others!

We need to change the football administration completely. When Twahiri says that you "know we traveled late and the humidity was bad". Is that an excuse? Why didn't he take the team there on Monday, why wait till  late. Why did he not take the team to Mombasa to practice there? Same old cats will surely take their milk in comfort and not in a hurry.
Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbbiiiiissssssssssaaaaa.

I think we are performing dismaly because we are carrying a wrong name. Lets come up with a name that is worthy of scaring opponents before we even meet them. A good name like Halleluyah squad. Of course I know its not names that play, neither am I superstitious.
