Even though Zain may have pulled a first one, in voice market, against Safaricom,all is not lost for Safaricom when they to Launch 4G network platform it will greatly enhance its efficiency and help Safaricom add more products value additions.
The 4G may help Safaricom launch Triple-play services i mean,phone calls ,internet,and pay TV services including
M-Pesa is being marketed not only in Kenya but also abroad,which from Centra Bank of Kenya monthly Remittance statistics is still a grey area that is not fully exploited.And Safaricom could have a head start if its licenses are approved soon moreso South Africa market
Also the M-Kesho services ,Safaricom agency banking outlook as they say still will help make Safaricom book look healthy
Also by providing 240,000 teachers Laptops assume only 80,000 take up the offer then with usage of data,20 shilling on average daily for internet ,then safaricom has a head start in data provision.
However Safaricom reluctance to lower its SMS charges will work against because it is now expensive to send text messages from Safaricom network to other networks.
