Re: [VuguVuguMashinani] Re: [KOL] Buying Parliamentary Seat for 150Million!

Ndungu Sungu,

American do not need political parties as they have a clause for
independents. In practice though, no independent has ever won big.
just a few scattered seats here and there.

2. A political party is an institution if well created. by that virtue
alone it can hold a leader to account like never before

3. what institution holds an independent. himself? meaning if you
elected a pastor and turns out to be something else your only recourse
is the law which may not work as we know once power is given, getting
it back is a whole different question.

What I'm trying to say is this. Political Party barons like you have
described belong to THOSE parties that belong to the status quo. The
clause on independents to me is just a tool of escapism for those who
do not want to do the hard work and create good institutions. The very
first institution is a political party and how you organize one give
us enough indication of what to expect from you as leaders. it also
tells us how well or badly our institutions will be run.

I really do not see what is hard in bidding ODMs and PNUs bye bye and
creating new parties. Why do we sell ourselves short? Why do we
imagine that those must be the parties or not. We must let go this
mentality and do not rely on independents. It is very easy to target an
independent. just cast aspersions on ones character and it's over. We
know non of us are angels and sometimes it a propaganda that will only
clear off when you have lost. Biden plagiarism propaganda in 1988 was
cleared later but he had already bowed out of the presidential race..
I still think we can beat the ODMs and PNUs and Narc-Kenyas for that
matter cause the bar on political parties is so low that a new born
can jump over it - (Like Sonko did in Makadara). Like i keep saying we
have nothing to loose but the chains that bind us...things are never
what they seem. We must explore all angles without fear. do focus on
the impossibilities. look at the opportunities. Every other political
party is on the lowest of the lower end of the bar. nobody id
occupying the upper end of the bar..Sungu, Party loyalty isn't bad if
it is the right party with the right ideology and principles. Its just
that our experiences are such that we refuse to see the other side of
the coin.we refuse to broaden our outlook and narrow our self where
the media and political elite are sending us. There are real risks in
independents. They answer absolutely to no one but the laws of the
country which people have been known to change in a wink of an eye. If
political parties are suffering from personality curse, what makes you
think one person without a party to cause a few problems here and
there will not be come the worse personality cult figure? Museveni
next door is a good example.

If people are willing to listen this far, we can get to the important
question of talking about the money and how we can get it.
