On the first official Mashujaa Day- October 20, 2010, NCA-NCEC calls upon all Kenyans who have stood for justice, for peace, for accountability, for the independence of our nation, for the rights of all and for the truth to rededicate themselves to the struggle for the liberation of our politics, our economy, our citizens, our natural environment, our education, cultural institutions and society in general from the evils of laziness, corruption, primitive accumulation and crony capitalism, from the vile system of the deprivation, oppression, pauperization and exploitation of the people of Kenya by both national and international forces.

We at NCEC see the passage of a new constitution on August 4, 2010 as a great victory for the democratic movement and for NCEC particularly; it is the beginning of a more hopeful journey towards the promise of our national Anthem: Justice be our shield and defender, may we dwell in unity, peace and liberty, plenty be found within our borders.

This is the vision that should be guiding the implementation of the new constitution. Not power games and the bureaucratization of the democratization of the state project that our heroes and heroines have stood for died for and lived for.

NCEC rejects the Kibakinization, Railazation, bungenization, ODM-PNUization of the democratic project in which the implementation of the constitution is a central part of. This grand coalition government has eventually convinced so many of us justice and democracy workers that there is no other way than the stupid coalition way. There is always the people's way; the democratic way; the way of justice, the truth, of principles and of popular rather than elite interests.

As we mark the 1st official Mashujaa day, which is a victory of our struggles, NCEC thinks it is time we convened the National Convention Assembly, the first in the 2nd Republic to properly locate power where it belongs- In the people. To define the path and direction for our nation. We must end this nonsense of Ruto, Kalonzo, Uhuru and all the Moilets urinating all over our face as if we live on borrowed brains and souls! As if corrupt money is more powerful than the truth and strength of our nationhood and values.

Stand up and speak with the mouths and voices of our Mashujaa Pinto, Kubai, Odinga, Muindi Mbingu, Adungosi, Karimi Nduthu.

See with the eyes of our heroes and heroines Me Katilili Wa Menza, Muthoni Nyanjiru, Moraa,

Hear with the consciences of our Kimathi, Waiyaki wa Hinga, Samoei, Wathiong'o, Mutunga, Maathai,

Reason with the knowledge of the masses of our people in their struggles

Act with the confidence of our Youth, women, workers, educators, organizers

Organize like we want something to happen

Something is going to shine like the truth in this our land soon!

As we celebrate Mashujaa Day, we should remember gallant soldiers of secondary liberation who led from the from but have been relegated to the back seat by the political class.

But we all know the role they have played in shaping this country. We must honour and pay respect to the brave lecturers of 70's, 80's and 90's who kept the fire burning from the lecture halls. Their inspiration turned into action which liberated this country. Just but a few Prof. Yash P. Ghai, Prof. Wangari Mathai, Dr. Willy Mutunga, Prof. Ngugi Wa Thiong'o and many others.

Can we expect a new inspiration from the lecture halls again? Time will tell.

Let us all celebrate this day...
