Hi Lydia,
I received similar calls last year, but they turned out to be hoaxers. In my case, it was an MPESA agent where i had deposited a large sum of cash. This agent passed my name, number & id number to some guys who called & made threats like those you have received. I informed a friend at Safaricom, who was able to trace the numbers the callers used to the MPESA agent.
Have you made large deposits at MPESA recently?
Also, as a precaution, report the incident to the cops & Safaricom, & if indeed you did deposit huge sums of money at an MPESA agent, you should stop. Use agents at secure locations like Uchumi branches, which are safer.
I hope this helps you.
Regards,
Martin.
