Dear All,
So saddening. But one thing comes to mind  - why should such a big store send their money to the bank with a walking employee? No armed escort or anything? How do they explain to the family or kids of this man that they chose to use their father instead of hiring the services of trained personnel from the likes of G4S etc?

This was avoidable exposure by Ibrahim's and they should be made to pay for it! Lawyers of good will should advise the family.

And now that this gentleman (RIP) is gone, have they put yet another soul on the line of death or have they taken appropriate action to hire a security firm?

Pole sana to the cashier's family. On the other hand, Macharia is right that the cashier lacked wisdom on how to handle the thugs. There is no money worthy a life and this is even more painful knowing that he was protecting somebody else money. He should have let the bag go and if possible give them the extra money in his pocket.

One time I worked in a restaurant in New York during my initial days in this country and remember the training on how to handle robbers. You give them the keys and everything they ask for. You cant fight back and you cant put your life for whatever reasons. Then I remember all those security officers (watchmen) and employees who are expected to resist armed robbers, get hurt or die just to prove that they were not working in cohorts with the robbers. Hell no, I will not put my life for anybody else, may be my son but that is it. The rest will have to bite the bullet before it reaches me since my body is not bullet proof.
