Re: [YP_Ke] Who is the Most Powerful Man in Kenya Today?

Mark,
I like your analysis and would buy your line. The author was also probably looking for a Mbiyo Koinange during Kenyatta era, or Biwott Nicholas during Moi's era and later during the initial days of Kibaki era, a Chris Murungaru. These folks were more powerful than the vice presidents of the day. What of Michuki especially when he was in security? Who pulls the string at state house and at prime minister's office? Where do you place Lucy Kibaki? Dont think Lucy Kibaki has more power than Kalonzo or Uhuru or has it waned? Where do you place Kibaki's golf buddies? The folks running the Trans Century? Where does the politburo headed by Anyang Nyongo fall in ODM and PM's office? Other people wielding power will be tribal heads mentioned in your piece, Ruto in RV among the Kalenjins, Kalonzo/Ngilu in Ukambani, Musalia in Western, Murungi in Meruland, Peter Kenneth/Michuki/UK/Martha/Saitoti in Central, Saitoti/Ntimama in Maasailand, Njoho/Makwere in Coast na kadhalika.

Do we have the "blue eyed" boy(s) in Kibaki/Raila Govt such as Ngengi Muigai during Kenyatta era or Mark Too in part of Moi's era? Some state house operatives such as Kulei in Moi era or Kereri at one time during Kibaki era (before the all powerful Lucy Kibaki showed him the door? What of some powerful fellows standing on their own like TJ, JM Kariuki or some wielding power given by the power barons such as the case of infamous kalamu maduong aka Oyugi, Nyachae during his days in the civil service, Isaiah Mathenge as PC or Kihika Kimani in RV when the two gave the VP (Moi) a hell of time, slapping him ovyo ovyo which means they were more powerful than the vice president.

Where do you place some powerful folks such as Kibaki's second wife (Ms. Wambui Mwai?), or his daughter?

Hello Nyaoke
its mheshimiwa wa kivaki(KIBAKI) Ofcourse due to powerful state
machinery n being commander in chief and head of state speaks
volumes.Raila comes in second command and enjoys unrivalled state
machinery and being populist among the youth and nation at large shows
that he is next in line to the thrown come 2012.
UHuru comes in third being the blue eyed boy who have the president's
hear and pulls alot of strings in the cabinet level. Ruto is non
starter in this league but rather a trouble maker with support from
kinsmen, just test this....Ruto in all kind of scandals that has hit
kibaki administration n not fit for leadership. As for KALONZO he is
(Decission less) still not sure of himself leave alone the public.....
