Muslim leaders in the country had proposed establishment of Islamic Court system during Bomas constitution conference. When the proposal was put to vote delegates decided to vote against the Islamic court. The court would have allowed to adjudicate criminal and commercial disputes. Kadhi Sharif Ahmed Hussein Almuhdhar now the Chief Kadhi supported those voted against the proposal.
Very few people in Kenya had known about the support the then Nairobi Kadhi had given to those who opposed the the Islamic Court. News was widely circulated in US media as can be seen in the attached file. From that time found a person to rely on the matter of Muslims and Islam. He silently supported Wako draft while the former Chief Kadhi oppose it during the referendum. He liberal and would never involve himself with vocal Muslim organizations like Namle, Council of Immams or Jamia Mosque Committe. This has made him popular and liked by both the Muslims and the government. This the reason why the former Chief Kadhis contract was not renewed.
