Re: [kca_main] Fwd: JUST IN CASE YOU KNOW OF A JOB OPENING, HELP THIS GUY!!

Zedekiah,
I never looked at it this way. You remind me of a comment made by a friend, Dr. Ombati during a graduation of a friend when the father of the friend gave a long speech in a language akin to English. He is a headmaster in a school in Nyaribari and I have never heard of a headmaster murder the english language the way that headmaster murdered it.

Dr. Ombati was so disgusted that he left the graduation ceremony in protest as he commented, "No wonder the standard of education have gone down in my district!".

Yes, we blame the system. The teacher who convinced the fellow that a sick person is deceased!

Did I tell of Wams and yours truly Matron at Githumu High School? Ms. Wahu Gachao. A student got disgusted with her and stood akimbo infront of Wahu. Wahu gets so disgusted that he tells us in the assembly the following day:

"Wanu studient saw me catch a bone. Mboi fomu two. Has kivuu Pullover"

In English she meant, "A student saw me and stood akimbo. He must have been a form two because he had a grey pullover".

Now that was a direct translation of Gikuyu, "kibuu/grey" and kwinyita mahindi (stand akimbo).

Now listen to a whole graduate teacher complain on the same assembly about students smashing the mabati plates after drinking uji (by stepping on them.

"You know whotiii? They.......Plates". The fool lifted his right leg and smashed it on the floor with a gusto to show us how they smashed the plates. He could not say it in English because he was "englishically" crippled and so decided to do "English practicals" instead. No wonder I still have problems with the english language. I will go back for a refund for english from Githumu. It is here that a teacher lied to us that Albuquerque is pronounced Ambakwikwi.  One of my friends was traveling from New York to Bufallo from Kenya. He spent an hour asking for direction to take a bus to Mbufaro! Wazungu kept on looking at him as if he was nuts. God help our teachers.

Kuria,
To me, the guy is very sincere and he deserves a job (any that can fit him). Let us not blame the boy for his poor English...that is how he was taught at school. We read recently in Kenyan papers how some of our teachers are total nuts. What do you expect of the student/pupils they teach? This shows how our hiring structure is rotten and this applies to other countries too.

Wams,
They will now be allowed to hundle guns. You dont want an illiterate person handle a gun. Did you see where he says he is childish when he meant he does not have children? What kind of employee would be expected to talk like that.

That watchman is talking like an illiterate student I taught who reported to us that his dorm mate was deceased. We all panicked and called the police to come and take the dead body. Only after the anxiety and the landlover arrived with ngunias for carrying dead bodies did we realize that the fellow from great county of Kisii was talking about a sick fellow and meant he had diseace. That is the price you pay for illiteracy. The same stuff you get if you marry an illiterate husband or wife. They sell eggs to buy mandazi for the children.

Wams,
Tell your friend to go back to school. He had a learning disability.
