Thanks Otieno Sungu and thanks my namesake Elijah Kombo for keeping the debate going. My namesake is full of contradictions in his contribution. Yes Kissis are fiercely independent. Yes this true and I know it because lived there for two years while doing my A levels in Kisii land. This being the case why does Kombo then expect the Kisii Community to dogmatically vote NO for a document that addresses all the key problems of the ordinary man and women in this country?  And even Kombo and his co. know it. Why should nd. Kombo challenge anybody to waste money in translating the draft Constitution into local languages when it is common knowledge the NO camp has and continues to make sure that majority of people don't get access to draft!. It is on record that some churches have hidden copies of the draft constitutions away from the followers. Kombo have you forgotten how a truck full of copies of the constitution was destined to be burned so that the masses don't get to knowing the plain truth contained therein. This then fits well into one your strategies of keeping the masses ignorant …. If you have NOT read the constitution or don't understand even one clause in the constitution, then turn red. VOTE "NO".

Thirdly it is very demeaning and almost arrogant for Mr. Kombo to imply that apart from him and those in his small camp, the rest don't understand what is going in Kisiiland! No brother. No. Times have changed and thanks to IT!

It is indeed sad that a few of sisters and brothers have decided to remain at the red light when the whole country is moving on becomes the lights have turned GREEN. We have surely lived and we all know very well "The NO Generation of Constitution dispensation for the last 40 years".

 

Mr. Kombo are you trying to persuade us to continue in this NO generation? Oh NO. Give us a break. Let Kenyans of good will continue with Grand Green Match to a truly and meaningful GREEN Revolution. And YES 4th August 2010 is GREEN D-DAY.

In the meantime as struggle continues let's pray to Almighty God to keep well and safe so that we can all vote to the last person YES come 4th August, 2010.

The CoE is doing a great job of that except that some churches have been keeping these drafts in heaps in churches and not giving to faithfuls. Also, Kombo, it is not a crime to work in diapora, infact, diaspora is one of the greatest foreign exchange earner to the country currently, just like you recently came from Kapueta and Khartoum in Sudan.
 
I guess you should have declined opportunities to work for your organization in these areas because you love Kenya so much, how come you never refused to work outside?
 
Do your bit and let the diapora also have a say, definitely we shall also come home and do our bit but we are not afraid to talk about Kenya because we are not in Kenya, my family lives there and I pay taxes in Kenya religiously!!!
 
Not all Kenyans can fit in Kenya only, and Kombo, we are living in a global world and I guess even your employers are not Kenyan if I am not wrong otherwise you would be scramming for jobs somewhere in diaspora as well.

Sungu - YES i will challenge you on the chapters i feel are contentious. So to save time: dont post all chapters because people have read and understood this Katiba. Instead challenge the bloggers to actually print the Katiba, translate it in their mother language and send copies home (to their rural forks). They should declare if they have voters cards. I dont want to engage people who do not a weapon. I will be tired for nothing!. This is what we did. We took home hundred of copies with analysis in Ekegusii and Dholuo. I hope you know that the only ancestors in Luo who are opposed to following a crowd come from my great great grandfather Ondare Opiyo (RIP).
 
So please challenge your 91 friends from KCA to translate the Katiba both in Kiswahili and mother language and send it to their rural homes. In addition let the some 91 fellas state whether they have voter cards or even plan to land in Kenyna on 4th August. If they do, then i will surely be at the JKIA to welcome them home as we set for the vote count. Wachana na kutuma tuma hapa kwa blog. Watu wamechoka just like they are fatigued by talking about Moi all the time.

I love you for one thing, you are a good dreamer of dreams. I can assure you Rarieda my constituency will piga YES kama kitu ingine, for now, let us leave it till August 4th. Everyday, I will however post the chapters and I challenge you to stop saying NO from the sidelines and challenge me on all the Chapters everyday and point out these things you say NO to and I will respond.

Listen please. Firstly the three generals you have mentioned Evans Machera, Dr. Matunda Nyanchama and Lister Nyaringo are all holed up in the USA and we dont even know if they have voters cards! With an exception of DR Matunda who went only to his home area to dish out some goodies in support of the Katiba, the rest have never stepped in Kisii in the last 12 months! And Dr Matunda is from a region of Adventist who are likely to follow their clergymen. It doesnt worry me since the Adventist are mere 1% of Kisiis.
 
Secodnly, those who are whispering to you should speak louder and clear. They should not be like Kalonzo who whispered until he was forced to shout. Nyaringo is the safe haven in the USA and maybe he called his kin and kiths who told YES bila kujua jirani anasema nini. A phone call is not enough. Kenyans in the diaspora do not have base-touch and therefore their assumption is not accurate.  (Please read my other email on KCA's failure - ineptitude leadership that has lacked focus and vision). Even you Sungu, you have visited Rarieda only once, and you want to say they are all saying YES Sungu - see probably they needed the dollar and once you step out its NO......
 
The three generals are like you - who has decided to stay in Juba unitl Aug4, I am not even sure if you will be around to vote! I have just discovered that the most noise makers here neither have a voters or even registered as one! Those generals who have decided to go quiet on blogs are tired of fighting opponents that you can destroy by sending a fly. The truth is that the YES team is in panic, and total panic! On Aug 4th, a million will fall by the wayside, a million will fall on the right and a million on the left.

You got it all wrong my friend as far as I am concerned; if you call these shenanigans by President Kibaki and PM Odinga fair play i.e. the blatant disregard of the rule of law via the abuse of police powers, abuse of the civil service code of conduct and all applicable laws, use of fear and intimidation by the very top principles responsible for upholding the law; I mean the list is long, then all is lost Mr. Sungu. It is desperation of the highest order and I am not afraid to stand at the edge of the cliff and refuse to join the multitude, you can slice it any way you want but this stinks to mighty heavens and regrettable, I will be proven right soon enough. This thing is more about egos than what is right for Kenya, simple, period end of story. The "No" and "Yes" folks have giant egos to nurse for ages, I am one to tell you ego is not an issue here guys, I am not running for office, Ruto is, Odinga is, Musyoka is and Kibaki has a legacy to leave behing, a very bad mix for sobriety.

Now as for Kisiis, I am very proud to be counted as one of the fiercely independent groups of people in Kenya, it is in our genes and I have no apologies for it. Unlike our neighbors to the lake who are tightly beholden to one family, Kisiis are not and our voting patterns reflect this fact; just look at South Mugirango, PNU lost, ODM lost; the draft will lose in Kisii as well not so much because I said it but generally because it doesn't fulfill what it should and as for what it portends to offer, it is all a vacuum designed for political calculations, that is all. I maintain, this thing is wrong, the process is rotten and gets worse by the day, laws are flagrantly flouted by the president; so I don't see how anyone on the "YES" side can legitimately claim victory but for the crooked and nefarious way they have gone about this thing. It is wrong and my conscience dictates I stand by the truth, for me this is not a popularity contest; it is what is right for me and my country, by most counts, this AIN'T IT!

Generals from Kissi like Evans Machera, Dr. Matunda Nyanchama and Lister Nyaringo who also traverse those regions and have relatives there tell a different story from the one you and your brother are trying to console yourselves with.
 
Apparently, they are not brothers so they are more believable than the two of you!!! Matunda has also traversed Kissi regularly and so has Machera. Nyaringo is in regular touch with his feelers on the ground and he whispers to us that bthe ground id all GREEN.Even david Ochangi who believed the KATIBA woud not pass has since gone mute, it is only the two of you from that region who still kick and yell NO while all around you is crumbling, all Genarals in NO have gone silent on the blogs and forums as they await the YES victory and they are making tactful retreats while you still bare your chest for bullets. Do you hear them any more?
 
Brother, get back to reality and stop behaving like a man who even after the wife has left him for good, still wakes up in the night hoping to find her by his side, go out and find another wife!!!!!!
 
It is amazing that the two brothers seem to be seeing what everyone else from Gussiland seem not to see, could it be a coincidence?

Everybody knows that Kenya is turning Green. Cardinal Njue, The Princes in these fora, everybody else, except you and your brother! You must be from an alien space where neanderthals reign supreme.

We all know Kisii and we have friends in Kisii, and they are telling us tales that are music to our ears....they are with Kenyans on the Green Train and it is sad that it is only Kombo and Jonah, from the whole of Kisii are saying NO; you are herewith demoted.

You will no longer be a General. You are a disgrace to the ranks and we all now know that. You are beyond redemption. Say No and follow your hearts desire. The beauty is that you are a Kenyan, and we, meaning the Greens, will fight for your rights to saying NO even as you sink into oblivion.

My brother and I treversed Kisii like no one else on the invitation of a friend. The purpose of the visit was not pleasant but we could not avoid talking about land, kadhi, devoluiton and others things on the Katiba. We began our journey through Suswa where we met the Chief of the area. He was travelling to attend a DC meeting in preparation of Ruto's visit. He confirmed to us that the YOUTH in William Ole Ntimama area are saying YES without winking an eye.
 
We stopped in Keroka, then branched to Nyamesocho - Ongeri Constituency. In all the places we visited, the people said NO. Despite the good raod the minister has put, people are weary of the dangers this Katiba is bringing forth.
 
Arriving in Kisii through Gekano, Nyamira and attending elders session - it was all RED CARD. The road through Nyachae's home is impassable with pot-holes the size of kindaruma dam. Kisii are sad people. During the recent campaigns at Magara area, top brass flew over the skies avoing civic education on pot holes. Therefore Kisii resolved to receive money but VOTE NO.
 
We travelled to Oyugis to see our great grandfather Ondare - the song was the same NO. As we arrived home in Marani through Onyonka panya route - we were exhasuted listening to NO NO songs. We wondered what Civic Education has done to Kisii. I understood that Rannerberg left some dollars for grabs. Omogusii is currently squandering them and waiitng for August 4th to vote NO.
