Chinese, Papa. Truth is a good number of Chinese businessmen are
unscrupulous but there are also honest businesses run by the Chinese.
The Chinese have perfected the art of mass production and they have
leveraged on a cheap labour force, steady production variables, low
cost of energy, a highly developed infrastructural network and
government incentives to really take the cost of manufacturing to
previously unimaginable lows. This has increased their competitiveness
and tackled what was an all time unemployment level. The government
has also encouraged entrepreneurship while protecting local
industries.
That said, there is a despicable side to the coin as counterfeiting in
the country has reached fever pitch levels with the full
acknowledgement of their government. If you wall into a typical
Chinese mall, the first shop / stall on the right is almost certainly
a 'label seller'. Here you can buy any designer label in the world and
have it affixed to your clothing or merchandize items.
To those intending on doing business with the Chinese though, beware
as a good number of them, especially those on the internet, are
scammers.
