Re: Ya: Successful kamba ladies maintaining marriages more thancounterparts in Luo & kikuyu !

Rose,
Another advantage of polygamy is that the women can gang up and decide to put sense into a senseless polygamist. Back home, we had a man with three wives. They got along and when he disciplined one, the rest came and joined hands against him. He came home drunk and the three could all agree to refuse to open the door for him (he had 3 homes and his thingiri) and so he would end up at his thingira. That is the only home where I have seen a Government of national unity work.

I am personally for polygamy because the man has no time to shout at you. Instead he will go to the next and stay  there while the other relaxes. Its even better because the woman will have bankiro and he will never know because he has to run all over trying to satisfy all the women. At the end of it he will be proud to say these are my "sons and daughters"(sons and daughter of the watch men and shamba men or even the house boys). Poor man. Bure Kabisaaa

Rose,
Tell Otory to continue with those maths because we are listening. I think time changes because those polygamists are dying a natural and slow death. unfortunately in place of the many wives are many ,mistresses and many women are not sure who  between the mistress and a co-wife is a lesser evil.

She is my friend. She started one some years back and the first class is graduating this year. Since this is the only part we disagree, she assisted me with funding of my mathematical school of female intellectuals who are marrying more than one husband (she does not know if this is how i used her money). As usual i like doing what has no compe. My first class is still in pre unit. The main problem being men are less than women. I very well know that for me to succeed, i have to be very busy in promotion of reproductive health and my goal is by 2090 there should be more men than women in the world and therefore my mathematical classes will succeed while for Otory and Jex will be ZERO.

I am trying maths based on Otory School of Mathmatics:). Tell her to start an academy and carry it Otory Academy. She has a cute name:)

I agree with you Otory. I am abit confused with the math because I didnt do well in that area in high school. What of One husband + 2 wives? Wouldnt that be be 2 loves or they 2 half loves? That is assuming that he has some love to both women as opposed to cases where there is one love and one hatred which would be a failed marriage because a negative plus a positive is negative. But then does two relationships which are devoid love make one love since a negative plus a negative = positive. I think we should keep off these maths in love.

If only we followed the simple Biblical counsel in Genesis which states that a man shall leave his father and mother, and a woman shall do likewise, and the two shall become "one flesh." The Bible continues in Corinthians to say that a man should LOVE his wife, and the woman should SUBMIT to her husband, then all will run smooth. Mathmatically stated: One husband + One wife = One love.

Kumbe
This the type of women men want. A donkey at home while he is enjoying himsef. What i know is if a woman has family support and the man does not cause any domestic violence when he visits the wife, she may be comfortable. More than 80% of women dont consinder sex as a priority but her children. The comfort of most women is security in terms of what that husbands home can provide as compared to her previous life.

Kuria, Crispine and Nyongesa,
Waambiye "Wakuye ni wabalukie." 'Gentlemens' you could be having some point here. My cousin married some decades ago in Athi River. The Lady was from 'Masakusi'. The year was 1974. Since my cousin was born and brought up in a polygamous marriage he himself ended up being polygamous.

He married three women, the first though, was this Kamba woman. Later the man ended up moving to Mombasa town, but subsequently had a two year stint when times were lean, when he could not hold a permanent job. During this period the other two wives took off leaving four children behind.

These children were taken in by the Kamba woman and cared for as her own children. The man later on got his footing and became successful. The children, seven of them have all gone through school and are now working.
At no time did I ever see this Kamba woman go away. She has turned to be one of the best role models of a 'Wife" in the Village.
All the same, this could be a One off, situation, but Nyar Machakos has done a lot of Good in the Village.

True and keen observation on Rope(Kamba)ladies. Only you have to be
keen she might keep on exploiting her AREA OF AGRICULTURE; especially
if you work away from where she is. (NOT ALL). Then my friend told me
that if you marry a ladies from Central then you are inviting a method
known as 'DIVIDE BY TWO/TUGAWANYE MALI' in life. Then  a Luo lady will
ever expect to remain the way you got her i.e. she will wait for husy
to model her in all manner.
