About tribalism and job security, there are two big evils the bank management should look into.
1. I have heard cases where managers, especially Non-Kikuyu are sacked for not approving loans to unqialifying but well connected individuals. "Unafikiria hii bank ni yako" is a very popular dismissal phrase
2. I have heard cases where loan guarantors are haunted and their accounts depleted by the bank to Speedily repay loans owed to the guaranteed individuals even though the bank hasn't exhausted all the channels to get the concerned repay. I have confirmed many cases where individuals have successfully sued the bank on the same complains.
3.And this money laundering rumour?

Of late you have heard many employees of Equity arraigned in court on
charges of theft. Equity has been paying its staff very poorly and so
many staff especially those in the accounting department have been
involved in theft. I met one former staff member who was accused with
theft. Him together with 9 others were accused of stealing Ksh 24
Million. They were 3 Luos, 2 Luhyas, 1 Kalenjine and the others were
Kikuyus. The funny thing is that all cases involving the Kikuyus were
dropped and the one people remaining in the case are non Kikuyus. The
person heading the anti fraud unit is Kamau who was removed from CID
after the botched raid on Standard and KTN offices.
Something is seriously wrong at Equity Bank. First it was economic
cleansing and now even investigating we have ethnic cleansing in it.
This is dangerous and Mzalendo Kibunja must take this seriously.
