My aunt Peninah is a 62 year old former blind school teacher and a senior member of the ACK church. She told me she has tremendous respect for the long necked Wabukhala, and wondered why he would throw in with the likes of radical Njue. My aunt told me, over the last two months she has deliberately ignored the cacophony of noises and delved into the document herself and spoken to a few knowledgable youth and lawyers. She told me, if her church was NO she is voting YES and has realized there are many mamas in the church who share her views "lakini hatusemi sana, but we are in YES and fear that the church has removed its shirt to bare a naked chest". The ACK has smartly read the mood and found itself an escape route.
The wave and tide is strongly YES, Kenyans including less educated and older citizens have woken up to smell the coffee.
This is very good news indeed. Good luck to canon Karanja and the rest, they will need a super caterpillar to dig the church out of the rut they will have put it in.

I said that this week would end with a very dramatic announcement from the church. If you have been following my monitoring of defections column closely, I mentioned that even the clergy will make a very loaded statement by end of the week. Anglican Archbishop Reverend Eliud Wabukala of the Anglican church has now "allowed" voters to vote with their conscience. This is where all churches should have begun from. This is a tactical face saving mechanism because Wabhukula, a very level headed person unlike Cardinal Njue and Cannon Karanja, has seen this KATIBA passing with embarrassing figures for the church. Instead of waiting to the ultimate embarrasment of 20% NO, he has taken a tactical retreat so that after the over 65% YES vote on August 4th, he can wriggle out of the misadvise that many have told them they have taken the church. Cardinal Njue has been left in this alone with the Evangelicals,many of whom do not command the same respect as the Catholic Church and Anglican Church. Njue still insist every Catholic has to vote NO, apparently forcefully!!!! The SDA saw this coming and are on safe and dry ground.
