Moi is statesman. He handed over power even when some fellas from Kibera threw stones and mud at him. Ever thought what could have happened if he had turned back? Please do not speak as if Moi is a saint from GOD. By the way the man made Kenyans to beg, Kenyans became poorer and poorer. When Moi took power Kenyan economy was very good. Our 8 (eight) Kenyan shillings was equivalent to 1 ( 0ne usa dollar). By the time Moi left the office in 2002, one dollar was over 100 kenyan shillings. People really suffered under mOi. How many innocent deaths because of even curable diseases would have been prevented if Moi was really doing his work properly as a leader?. Millions of Kenyans were burried under Moi because of diseases which can be cured even in Tanzania leave alone political assassinations he carried or swindling tax payers money for his own benefit. Who is responsible for those deaths, was it Raila also?. Moi did more harm than good to Kenya. The man is even today saying that multiparty system is bad for Kenyans while he enjoys free speech, tax-payers money and democracy today. But during his time he himself was taking almost all developments to his Rift valley only, university, colleges , good schools, good roads, jobs, scholarships, international aiport what the HELL are you not seeing, is it blindness or just tribalism?. Please stop supporting a devil`s regime. How many provinces are in Kenya?. Can you compare development in Rift Valley or Baringo with anywhere in Kenya during Moi`s time?. If Kibaki or Raila were devils like Pinocheta or Botha, or even Omar Bongo, or Mobutu they would have already eliminated Moi by now and took back all tax-payers money he took to Rift Valley and abroad . Please learn to look the world in a realistic way and in a balanced way. There are a lot of Devils on earth here and Moi is one of them. He should be thankful to Kibaki and even now the coalition government that he is still alive. And a lot more he should be thankful to Raila who fought for democracy, free speech and freedom he is now enjoying, because if people like Raila did not fight for this freedom, Moi would be in Jail or dead by now, instead the man is still eating free tax-payers money.

Tell us what we don't know. Raila was involved in the coup;-------we Know that, he said it. And even before he said it Moi had already slammed his balls in detenion.

Now all these things are known, and talking about them on and on, will not add Ugali to your Sufuria. But what Kibaki and Raila has decided is to let Kenyans move to a new level, or a step forward if you may, by bringing in a new Constitution. For this I urge you to go cast your vote whether Yes or No. But, you should put in mind that Kenya needs to move forward, and to do this it must be done with a new Constitution.
The current Constitution gives the President too many powers, which he can easily abuse, as happened during Kenyatta's time, Moi's time and in more recently in 2007/2008 Kibaki's time. Do you wonna move ahead or will you still keep singing the Chemurwok Song in defence of Moi and Villification of Raila? Boiyot, umewaadia wakati wa kuendelea mbele, hapana kukaa mahali moja na kuimba same song.

Maurice, it is not the c-in-c who conducts a coup against himself. Try reasoning better than that. Have you ever asked yourself how come majority of them were luo air service men? ask Raila to denounce what he said in his book on his role before you try lecturing us on what you do not know. If you think they should have succeeded then do not ever complain of what Moi decided to do to them like the Nyayo chambers. They actually deserved to be detained.

Otieno, you want to tell this forum that nobody was killed in Kisumu or Kibera in 2008? remember we come from the same country and i witnessed the PEV just as you did. There is a misguided trend that killings only happened in RV. Visit Kisumu police station and do a small enquiry on the number of deaths.... do the same on Kibera and Dandora.
Those who want to silence Moi coz of his past record should just forget it. Raila participated in the 1982 coup and he has admitted it himself in his book. He called people for mass action (coded message for people to fight) in 2008. He has never condmned the killings to date. he even visited Jackson Kibor in jail. That is why it will be a tall order trying to exonerate him......however much you may love the guy.

Maurice, which Kenyans are forgiving? Moi never asked for any forgiveness and i do not understand why you are "forgiving" him. Did you also forgive Raila for the 1982 coup? how many massacres did he preside over? how about the 2007 PEV? have you forgiven him also? Don't try silencing Moi from exercising his democratic right by bringing in unrelated matters. Everybody has a dark past and your man is part of that dark history.

6. Fact. It is during his time that Nyayo torture chamabers were officially open for business and many patriotic Kenyans were rendered "vegetables"by nyayo boys and girls for advocating openness and free speech.
7. Fact.it during his time that, market plots, cemetery, city and town toilets, and land allover Kenya were grabbed by the KANU boys.
For Mr Moi to restore his dented credibility he should cease to be used to do dirty work for others who do not want to see Kenya move forward. He should emulate his next neighbor President mkapa of TZ who has become an elder statesman of the region. It is shameful for a grand and great grand father to be used reckless by his handlers. It also shameful for him to say that this time there is democracy and he has a right to talk like anybody else. He is no like anybody else he is a retired president of Kenya with full government security paid by the tax payers. Further, during his time he denied people to express themselves what he is taking for granted now. He is a lucky man to be living in a free speech Kenya.
He has five days to redeems his lost glory by joining the winning team, even God will forgive him of his past crimes against the people of Kenya. I wish him a quick change of heart for the sake of his grand children.
